Airlines such as Scoot, Malaysia Airlines and Cathay Pacific also offer connections into Da Nang. Please refer to the airline website or your travel agent for updated schedules.

Transiting in Ho Chi Minh City

In Ho Chi Minh City, the international and domestic terminals are located in different parts of the city. You will be required to transfer between terminals by road (shuttle or taxi). This can take around 20 minutes or longer, depending on time of day and traffic.

Recent advice from Vietnam Airlines, is that the airline will assist with the internal transfer from the international terminal to the domestic terminal, for passengers with a layover of under 5 hours.

Passengers with a layover of more than 5 hours will need to take the free shuttle bus to the domestic terminal.

For guests transiting via Ho Chi Minh City (or Tan Son Nhat airport), please be advised that the immigration queue can be quite long, in some cases it can take up to 60 - 90 minutes. We recommend you speak with the airport Transfer desk staff for their advice at the time.

Transfers

Complimentary airport transfers are available to guests travelling on the main Convention dates. Shuttles must be booked in advance in order to secure a seat. Shuttle bookings will be released around March 2026, please consider the shuttle times when booking your flights.

Extensions

Should you wish to extend your stay in Vietnam at the Sheraton Grand Danang please make a note in your registration form so a quote and availability can be provided.

The hotel has extended special rates for 3 days pre and post the Convention dates. Please refer to the hotel page for details.

If you are extending your stay in Vietnam, you can still book an airport shuttle seat. Please keep an eye out for the shuttle transfer booking form to be released in March 2026.

Travel Checklist

Travelling to Vietnam

For current and up-to-date travel advice, including safety, health and local laws, please refer to the official Australian Government site, https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/asia/vietnam

We are closely monitoring the official travel advice provided by the Australian Government through their Smart Traveller website. This is the most reliable and up-to-date source for travel safety information.

At 6th March, 2026, the current advice for Vietnam on the Smart Traveller website is to "Exercise normal safety precautions." This indicates that the Australian Government does not have any major safety concerns for travellers to Vietnam at this time. For up to date information, please visit the site: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/asia/vietnam

At this time, the program will proceed as planned. We will continue to follow all formal government travel advisories. Should the travel advice for Vietnam change, we will update all delegates immediately.

We respect that every individual has a different tolerance for risk, and it is ultimately your personal decision to travel. We encourage you to stay informed and make the decision that is right for you.

Passports & Visas

Australian citizens must have a visa to enter Vietnam, with the most common option being the e-Visa which can be applied for online and is valid for up to 90 days. To apply, you will need a valid passport with at least six months' remaining validity and at least two blank pages, a digital photo, a completed online application, and proof of onward travel and accommodation.

You can apply online (https://evisa.gov.vn/) for an eVisa for tourism or business purposes. If approved, the eVisa may allow you to stay up to 90 days and is valid for single or multiple entries. Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. Contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Vietnam for the latest details.

If you are unsure of your visa entry requirements, please check with a qualified agency, such as https://cibtvisas.com.au/

Please note, obtaining and carrying valid and current travel documentation is the responsibility of the individual passenger.

We recommend you only use the official visa application websites. At 6 March, 2026, the application fee is USD 25.00.

During the application process, you will need to have the following information:

  • Photo of the person requesting an electronic visa (newly taken, photo size 4x6 cm, jpg, jpeg format, size <2MB, straight face, no hat, no glasses, formal clothes, white background). Only upload 1 passport data page, upload clear photos, no lost corners
  • Image of your passport photo data page
  • Your arrival & departure port (i.e. where will be your first point of entry into Vietnam)
  • Residential address in Vietnam: Sheraton Grand Danang Beach Resort & Spa
  • Province / City: Da Nang City
  • Ward / Commune: Ngu Hanh Son Ward

Visa processing usually takes around 5-7 working days. However, the country has two public holidays towards the end of April/early May, and the offices will be closed during that time. We have been advised that processing times will be extended due to the closures. We strongly recommend you apply for your visa as soon as possible.

Weather

April and May are one of the best times to visit Vietnam, in particular Da Nang, when the city enjoys some of its most pleasant weather. During this period, the days are warm and sunny, with average temperatures ranging from 25°C to 33°C. The skies are generally clear, humidity is more comfortable compared to the summer months, and rainfall is relatively low—making it ideal for exploring the city, relaxing on its beaches, or taking day trips to nearby attractions like Hoi An and the Marble Mountains. This season offers the perfect balance of sunshine and mild conditions for visitors looking to experience Da Nang at its best.
